Another University of Houston baseball player is headed to professional baseball after being selected in the early rounds of the MLB Draft, continuing the program's impressive track record of developing major league talent.
The right-handed pitcher, who dominated AAC hitters with a 10-2 record and a 2.15 ERA this season, was selected by a major league club looking to bolster their pitching pipeline. His fastball that touches 97 mph, combined with a devastating slider, made him one of the most sought-after college arms in this year's draft class.
"Being drafted is a lifelong dream come true," he said. "But I want to make sure people know that the University of Houston made this possible. The coaching staff, the facilities, the competition — everything about this program prepared me for this moment."
His selection marks the third consecutive year that a Houston pitcher has been drafted in the top rounds, establishing UH as a legitimate pitching factory. The program's investment in analytics, biomechanics, and player development has paid dividends on the national stage.
Head Coach reflected on the pitcher's growth: "He came here as a raw talent with a great arm. Over three years, he developed into a complete pitcher — improved his command, added a changeup, and learned how to compete at the highest level."
The pipeline of talent shows no signs of slowing down, with several underclassmen already drawing significant professional interest heading into next season.
