Tavon Bolden | Steele at Atascocita — Saturday, 6 PM
Nothing on this week's board doubles as film study quite like this one. Bolden lines up at safety for an Atascocita team hosting a Steele squad that just dropped 52 on Reagan in a 52–21 win, and when two state-ranked rosters share a field, a defensive back doesn't get to hide behind a soft schedule. Watch how he reads route combinations and closes on the ball once the tempo picks up.
Braden Baker | C.E. King at Cy Ranch — Friday, 7 PM
Circle this one first if you follow Houston recruiting closely. Baker runs Cy Ranch's offense against a C.E. King defense good enough to land on the Houston Chronicle's short list of the week's five must-see area games—No. 3 in the area hosting No. 18. A ranked front forces a quarterback to speed up his reads and trust his eyes under duress, and that's exactly the tape worth pulling from Friday night.
Samuel Thiergood | Westfield vs. Randle — Thursday, 7 PM
Thursday's early kickoff belongs to the guys in the trenches. Thiergood and Randle followed up a 20–14 win over South Oak Cliff by drawing a Westfield front that hits first and asks questions later. Few things reveal an interior lineman's technique faster than a defense that wants the fight before the whistle.
KJ Porter Jr. | Newton vs. Franklin — Friday, 7 PM
Porter gets the toughest ask on his schedule so far. Franklin has built a reputation as one of the area's stingier defensive units, and how a running back handles that kind of resistance—patience behind his line, second-effort yardage, finishing runs through contact—tells you more than a highlight reel against a lesser opponent ever could.
COOGS 365 WEEK 2 HEADLINER
C.E. KING AT CY RANCH — 7 PM FRIDAY
Strip away the rankings and the answer doesn't change: this is the game for Houston fans this week. Braden Baker is the only quarterback commit in the class, and Friday puts him across from a defense that earned its ranking rather than backed into it. Arm decisions under duress, poise between snaps, whether he can stay on schedule once the pocket starts to collapse—all of it shows up here more than in the other thirteen games combined.
Save some attention for Saturday, too. Tavon Bolden and Steele close the weekend at 6 PM at Atascocita, giving the class a second true feature performance once Friday's lights go dark.
